Struggling to keep your phone charged? Here’s what we do to keep ours running longer.

Battery life – our own lives seem to revolve around the life of our batteries. For your Apple devices, there are some easy things you can do to maximize the time between charges. We hate when our phones are running low on battery, so here are some things that we do to keep ours alive just a little bit longer.

According to Apple, your devices have an ideal temperature range to operate within. If you are using your device in an environment outside of this range, your battery life will most likely suffer.

The best thing you can do is to optimize your device’s settings. There’s a few great features at your fingertips to keep your phone alive, you just have to use them.

Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode was introduced in the iOS 9 update, and is much more effective than turning on Airplane Mode or lowering your display brightness. This can be added to your Control Panel for easy access, and works by optimizing your device’s settings temporarily to maximize battery life. Low Power Mode lowers your display brightness, doesn’t allow apps like Mail to download messages in the background and disables features like Airdrop and iCloud Sync. Once you get a chance to charge your phone back up to 80 percent, Low Power Mode will automatically turn off.

Wi-Fi and Cellular Data

Using your device while connected to a Wi-Fi network uses less battery than if you’re on a cellular network. From there, all about signal strength – if your Wi-Fi or cellular signal is weak, your device has to use more power trying to keep you connected.

Background Activity

You can turn off the feature that allows apps to refresh in the background – as in, when you’re not currently using the app, but haven’t completely closed it.

Location Services

Location services allows apps to use your location, even when you’re not on the app. You can tweak this in Settings, and only allow apps to use your location when you have that app open, or you can set it to never allow apps to use your location. Changing how apps use your location will save you a little bit of battery!
